We've been observing our caterpillars for a week now and it's amazing how fast they grow! They get about ten times their birth size by the time they are ready to pupate - WHOA! It probably won't be long and they'll start preparing to molt into chrysalises!!!
DID YOU KNOW?
The caterpillar makes a silk pad then it attaches itself to the pad to hang upside down. Within a day or so, it will shed it's skin, revealing the chrysalis. Remember, caterpillars do not create their chrysalis - it actually forms inside their skin before it sheds for the final time!
